What this covers

Sofas, sectionals, accent chairs, coffee tables, media consoles and rugs. Seat depths against how people actually sit, table heights against sofa arms, rug sizes against which legs are meant to land on them.

How we work

• Specifications come from manufacturer listings, manuals and spec sheets — not from marketing copy or from another site’s summary.
• Every figure on the page is traceable to a source we link. Where two sources disagree, the guide says so rather than picking the flattering one.
• Products are compared on the dimension the question is about. A guide about depth ranks on depth, not on how heavy something is to ship.
• Nothing is recommended that we could not measure against the space it has to fit. Where a number does not exist, the guide says that instead of estimating one.
